UAC to establish a new “paperless” design center

The new design center, which is being established by United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) on the basis of Tupolev design bureau, will be one of the world’s largest ones, president of UAC Yuri Slusar said. Total amount of investments in this project reached 500 million rubles, the corporation noted.

The new “paperless” center is equipped with one of the Russia’s most powerful supercomputers featuring a processing power of several dozens teraflops. Its usage will help speed up the implementation of the corporation’s major projects and exchange data between branches of UAC located in different regions of Russia.

“Today designers of United Aircraft Corporation are working on about 30 projects for development of new aircraft and upgrade of the existing vehicles. Maiden flight of MS-21 passenger aircraft is scheduled for 2016, development of Il-112 transport aircraft is in progress, and implementation of the project for development of Russian-Chinese wide-body aircraft has been started. Cutting-edge technologies allow using 3D design tools and carrying out personnel training in 3D format,” UAC added.

In order to implement the project Tupolev Company (part of UAC) is going to employ over 1000 persons in Moscow and its branches (first of all this refers to Kazan) in the near-term.
