Russian multi-role fifth-generation fighter T-50 (PAK FA) will be fitted with an electric power system, which is twice as powerful as its Russian analogues, RIA Novosti reports with reference to CEO of Aviation Equipment Holding Company (part of Rostec State Corporation), Maxim Kuzyuk.

“The company developed direct current electric power system (SPTSU-7,5) for the fifth-generation fighter. The system is twice as powerful as its Russian analogues,” Kuzyuk said.

He noted that SPTSU-7,5 “transforms variable frequency three-phase voltage from a generator into 27 V constant voltage with a nominal output of over 8 kW, which assures stable work of electronic systems and increases the flight safety”. “The weight of the new system is 1,5 lower compared to analogues,” Kuzyuk added. Russian-Indian fifth-generation fighter FGFA (derived from PAK FA) will be fitted with similar system.

PAK FA is Russian multi-role fifth-generation fighter. Composite components, cutting-edge technologies, the jet’s aerodynamic configuration and engine performance grant a very low radar, optical and IR signature. President of United Aircraft Corporation (UAC), Yuri Slusar, said in January 2015 that the corporation is starting deliveries of a pilot batch of T-50 fighters to Russian Ministry of Defense.

The Aviation Equipment Holding Company specializes in the development, production and after sales support of aircraft systems and units. In addition, the holding company manufactures parts and units for such industries as oil and gas, automotive, transport, energy.  Aviation Equipment includes 35 enterprises located across the country: in Moscow, Moscow Region, Ufa, Samara, Ulyanovsk, Omsk, Arkhangelsk Region and other regions of Russia. It is part of the Rostec State Corporation.
