Delegation of Rosoboronexport discussed the possibility of launching a co-production of weapons and military equipment in India at the 10th Aero India 2015 air show (was held from February 18th to February 22nd 2015 in Bangalore), Interfax-AVN reports with reference to the company’s press-service.
“At present Rosoboronexport is considering the possibility of starting co-production of Ka-226T light helicopters in India with its Indian partners,” press-service of Rosoboronexport explained.
It is stated “negotiations on the matter was the company’s focus at the air show”.
“We are implementing the largest and most ambitious projects related to aircraft industry in cooperation with India. Our cooperation is in line with the policy of Indian government aimed at development of the national defense industry,” Deputy CEO of Rosoboronexport and head of the company’s delegation at the air show, Sergey Goreslavskiy, said.
According to him, “co-development and co-production of military equipment are the key areas in terms of development of strategic partnership and the proof of high level of trust between the countries”.
Specialists of Rosoboronexport are expecting the Indian party to be interested in purchase of Il-76MD-90A military-transport aircraft and Mi-17V-5 helicopters.
“The status of a program for delivering Su-30MKI fighters to Indian air forces was also discussed,” the press-service noted.
It is said in the statement that Rosoboronexport held presentations for delegations from other countries of the region: the company showcased Yak-130 operational trainers, Mi-28NE, Ka-52 and Mi-35M combat helicopters, Be-200 amphibious aircraft and air weapons.
