Radioelectronic Technologies Concern (KRET), part of Rostec State Corporation, showcased components of MS-21 avionics suite for the first time. In the network of phasing out imports KRET will replace most foreign-produced components of the avionics suite of MS-21 and Sukhoi SuperJet 100 aircraft with the ones manufactured in Russia.
As a result the share of Russian-produced components in the avionics suite will almost double from 48% to 80% by the end of 2015. The components were demonstrated to members of Irkut Corporation (responsible for development and certification of MS-21 Family aircraft), Ministry of Industry and Trade, UAC, Rostec State Corporation and Sukhoi Holding Company at Scientific Research Institute of Aviation Equipment (NIIAO), KRET noted.
«In the network of phasing out imports and implementing agreement with UAC signed in 2014, KRET is working on mitigating risks within the framework of MS-21 and SSJ 100 projects in terms of procurement of components and systems manufactured by foreign companies, – KRET CEO Nikolai Kolesov said. – As for SSJ 100 project we received a technical specification for 22 systems from the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC), which are being evaluated now. We have already prepared alternative MS-21 components to replace the ones delivered by such international corporations as Thales, Honywell, Rockwell Collins, etc.».
The avionics suites of MS-21 and SSJ 100 offer different functions related to navigation, piloting, indication, aircraft equipment controls, etc. The jets will also be fitted with Russian-produced video-surveillance systems, landing systems, weather radars, communication systems, Electronic Flight Bags and more. In terms of technical solutions and technologies used the new avionics suite developed by KRET is a competitive product.
We remind you that in April 2013 KRET won the tender issued by Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade and signed the contract for manufacturing the development prototypes of instruments for an integrated avionics suite based on a modular avionics (IKBO IMA). The total value of this contract is 2.33 billion rubles. Ground and flight testing of IKBO IMA components was started in 2014 and continued in 2015. The mass production of the components should be launched in 2016.
The IKBO IMA suite will be certified by the Interstate Aviation Committee (IAC) and European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). The avionics suite will be certified both as a part of the aircraft and a stand-alone product, which allows promoting it at the global market.
