Russian inspectors will visit the headquarters of Finland’s Air Defense Battalion in Lapland, the head of Russia’s Nuclear Risk Reduction Center said Tuesday.
Ryzhkov detailed the planned inspection of the brigade’s peace-time headquarters, followed by a briefing where the battalion’s command is expected to provide personnel, weapons and equipment information.
"The Lapland Air Command located in the city of Korkalovaara will undergo a one-day evaluation on December 8," Sergei Ryzhkov said.
Inspection visits are arranged in compliance with the Vienna Document 2011 on Confidence- and Security-Building Measures (CSBM) signed by members of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE). They are carried out to verify information about military forces and plans for deployment of major weapons systems and military equipment.
The CSBM is part of a series of agreements signed between OSCE participating states on the exchange of information on military forces, budgets and defense planning.
