EU Interior Ministers Agree on Airline Passenger Data Sharing

EU law enforcement agencies will be able to gain access to the names, travel dates, itinerary, credit card details and contact details gathered by airlines.

The EU interior ministers have agreed on a plan to share airline passenger information in a bid to track potential extremists and prevent a repetition of the deadly Paris attacks, EU commissioner for migration, home affairs and citizenship Dimitris Avramopoulos said Friday.

Under the so-called Passenger Name Record deal, EU law enforcement agencies will be able to gain access to the names, travel dates, itinerary, credit card details and contact details gathered by airlines.
