Boeing 737 Makes Emergency Landing in Siberia

A Boeing 737 airliner with some 130 people on board made an emergency landing in the Russian Siberian city of Surgut, a source in the local emergency services said Friday.

Earlier in the day, the source told RIA Novosti that a Boeing 737 en route from Yakutsk to Surgut was getting ready for an emergency landing, presumably due to an autopilot malfunction.

"At 15:07 Moscow time [12:07 GMT] Boeing 737 landed safely at Surgut Airport, there were no injured," the source said, adding that the investigation into the circumstances of the incident was underway.

The aircraft is said to be owned by Russia's UTair carrier.
