Volga-Dnepr Pays Last Respects to Six Crewmembers Killed in Mali Terror Attack

A civil funeral service was held in Ulyanovsk on 30 November to remember Volga-Dnepr Airlines’ employees who became the victims of a terrorist attack on Radisson hotel in Bamako, Mali. The ceremony was attended by thousands of people, and the local civic hall could not even fit all those wishing to pay tribute to the dead and express condolences to their families and close ones.

Volga-Dnepr Airlines has consolidated a package of special measures to support the families of the victims and the crewmembers who survived the terrorist massacre.

The company has established a crisis center immediately after becoming aware of the tragedy in Mali. Volga-Dnepr has committed itself to cover all costs associated with bringing the bodies back to Russia and funeral services, with the families of the victims each receiving an insurance compensation of 2,000,000 rubles.

The crewmembers who survived the tragedy have been provided with paid leaves and psychological help.

Yet Volga-Dnepr has not been the only contributor to the relief measures as the company’s employees, partners and customers around the world expressed their willingness to aid the families of the victims. The funds raised have already reached ten million rubles. In addition, the Governor of the Ulyanovsk Region Sergey Morozov also ordered to pay one million rubles to each of the families.

Appreciating the sincere compassion of its employees, partners and customers wishing to aid the families of those lost in Mali, Volga-Dnepr has opened several special purpose accounts as detailed below, which can be used to transfer the funds by all willing to help. Alternatively, the crowdfunding pages launched by Volga-Dnepr’s Stansted and Houston offices, as well as wallets opened on the personal initiative by some company employees are also legitimate, and all funds raised through them will be transferred to the families of our lost colleagues.
