Holding ENGINEERING has completed modernization of its hangar in Novosibirsk's Tolmachevo airport. The hangar, currently in use by Sibir Technics (a subsidiary of ENGINEERING) initially entered service in 1964.
Refurbishment process started in 2010, and until autumn of 2015 all of the glass panels (total of 5,400 sqm), the roofing (12,600 sqm) was thoroughly refurbished, heating of aircraft parking bays was restored to a great extent, automatic fire extinguishing system was installed, internal lighting system was upgraded, the main gate received new he t insulation and the facades were renovated.
The refurbishment allowed Sibir Technics to take full advantage of energy and heat saving technology, and create more comfortable working conditions for staff, effecting people’s health and spirits.
“The cold-season average temperatures increased by 5-7 degrees, up to +18–22°С. Fifteen years ago if you opened the gates in the winter time, the normal temperature would be restored in 3-4 hours, now it’s 30-40 minutes to warmth,” a Sibir Technics’ representative explained.
The facility’s total space is 23,200 sqm, out of which almost half (11,200 sqm) is intended for simultaneous location of eight aircraft, including two wide-bodies.
“The Engineering Holding will continue to invest into developing production facilities of its subsidiaries. Modern hangar facilities, certified technical staff, tools and equipment play a decisive role in developing the domestic MRO industry”, Roman Fyodorov, deputy general director for finance of Engineering Holding commented.
