Russia’s civil aviation authority, Rosaviatsia, has sent instructions to all Russian airlines on the immediate introduction of additional measures in air safety during flights to Turkey, Rosaviatsia said in a statement Thursday.

According to the instructions, the goal of the measures is to provide safety to passengers and to minimize risks and threats while conducting regular flights between Russia and Turkey.

Earlier, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev signed a decree on implementing economic limitation measures against Turkey. Among the measures the Russian Transport Ministry was instructed to ban all charter flights between Russia and Turkey beginning on December 1.

The measures also include directions to travel agencies not to sell tours to Russian citizens that involve visiting Turkey and restrictions on the import of certain goods from Turkey.

The decision to impose economic restrictions against Turkey due to security concerns came in light of the November 24 incident with a Russian Su-24 bomber downed by Turkey over Syria due to alleged air space violation.
