Progress MS-01 Ship Automatically Docks With ISS

The new Russian Progress MS-01 cargo vessel docked with the ISS in an automatic mode. The process needed no manual override.

On Dec 23 at 01:27 p.m MT the new Russian cargo spacecraft Progress MS-01 has docked automatically with the International Space Station, a commentator at the Mission Control Center said Wednesday.

“We have contact! We have mechanical docking!” the commentator announced.

Rapprochement and docking of SC to the Pirse module was accomplished in automatic mode under control of specialist in Mission control center and Russian ISS crewmembers — Sergei Volkov and Yuri Malenchenko.

The cargo spacecraft delivered to the ISS different supplies for International Space Station.

Progress MS-01 was launched on Dec 21 from Baikonur Cosmodrome.
