A modernized ASW aircraft IL-38N will be tested at a Western MD airbase Pushkin near Saint Petersburg.

This variant of the aircraft is equipped with search and aiming complex “Novella”, which expands its capabilities and allows to use the IL-38N as a plane of radio reconnaissance.

Novella complex allows to detect aerial targets at the distance of up to 90 km and surface ones at the distance of 320 km tracking simultaneously up to 32 of them.

The aircraft has a combat payload of 5 tons, including anti-ship and antisubmarine weaponry: guided cruise missiles and ASW torpedoes as well as depth bombs.
