KRET is developing avionics for the Tu-214ON aircraft

KRET is developing avionics for the Tu-214ON special aircraft, which is designed for inspection missions as part of the international Open Skies treaty.

For the special Tu-214ON plane, KRET is developing a range of systems for calculations, navigation, integrated surveillance (TAWS, TCAS), air data, automatic control, and manual control.

KRET is also installing indicators and alarm systems, onboard systems and controls for the fuel flowing system. All of KRET’s key enterprises have helped to create the new equipment for the Tu-214ON.

"These new systems will allow the special Open Skies planes not just to utilize the most sophisticated navigation equipment, but also to provide reliable and secure communications via a satellite and terrestrial system,” said Vladimir Mikheev, adviser to the First Deputy CEO of KRET.

According to him, by equipping the special plane with similar technologies, "KRET is significantly expanding the technical capabilities of this aircraft."

The Tu-214ON (the letters are an abbreviation for “Open Skies” in Russian) is a surveillance aircraft based on the Tu-214 passenger plane. The aircraft is designed specifically to carry out Open Skies operations above the territories of other member countries of the treaty.

The international Open Skies treaty was signed in 1992 and ratified by Russia in 2001. Under the agreement, each state has the right to a special "observation aircraft" equipped with surveillance equipment with various parameters in terms of composition and capabilities.

This plane can be used to conduct observation flights over the territory of other countries that have signed the treaty to monitor troop movements and observe the state of ports and major railway junctions. Before their deployment, the observation aircraft and its equipment undergo international certification. During the flight, representatives of the observing party control the aircraft’s path and equipment operation.
