Russia could purchase Il-114 turboprop aircraft for patrol missions

The Russian Ministry of Defense considers the possibility of purchasing Il-114 two-engined turboprop patrol aircraft, a source in the Russian defense industry reports. "To be considered soon is the first customer for the Il-114 aircraft, which could be the Ministry of Defense. Following the issue of specifications, the Ilyushin Aviation Complex will be prepared to create, in a short space of time, a patrol version of the Il-114-300 aircraft," the source said.

The source noted that part of the design solutions in creating the dedicated Il-114 version for patrolling was elaborated using the Il-114LL flying laboratory built for the Radar MMS Company.

It was previously reported that the Il-114 will be a platform for patrol aircraft and dedicated aerial vehicles for the Russian MoD.

The Il-114 aircraft is designed for carrying passengers and cargo over short distances. The flying vehicle cruising range is 500 km/h, flight range with a maximum fuel supply is 4,650 km, with maximum payload 1,400 km. The payload is 6,500 kg. The crew is 2 men. Il-114 can carry 64 passengers. The aircraft is powered by two TV-7-117SM engines developing 2,500 hp each. The Il-114 has been used to create the flying laboratory Il-114LL.
