TVS-2DT aircraft, which should replace An-2, is being developed by Siberian Aeronautical Research Institute named after S.A. Chaplygin (SibNIA); its certification is scheduled for 2016, Interfax-AVN reports with reference to SibNIA Deputy CEO on Aircraft Development, Chief Designer, Grigory Anokhin.

“The first TVS-2DT prototype is being refined in order to reach the final design for certification stage. The vehicle’s certification should be completed in 2016 and then its mass production may be started. In case of successful certification, deliveries may be started in 2017,” Anokhin said.

According to him, TVS-2DT offers better performance compared to An-2 aircraft suited for local and regional airlines, DOSAAF and law enforcement agencies.

Anokhin also added “brand-new production capacities are being created in order to manufacture TVS-2DT aircraft. The output may reach 4 or 5 aircraft per month”. “The aircraft is being developed under a state contract with Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, the source explained.
