Crews of Northern Fleet ASW helicopters practice searching the simulated enemy’s submarine

The crews of Ka-27 ASW helicopters from the Northern Fleet airbase completed several training objectives over the Barents Sea.

The pilots executed training flights, carrying out radar and magnetometric antisubmarine search under the conditions of polar night.

During the flight shifts, the pilots enhanced searching skills and classification of submarines as well as tracking by means of radar and sonar means.

Apart from practicing the training exercises, naval pilots also practiced route traverse over a featureless terrain under the conditions of polar night, carried out aircrew cooperation missions and obtained allowance to pilot in both rough and visual meteorological conditions.

Thorough preparations which implied fit check of the engineer-technician servicemen, ground services and specialists for the provision of flight training, preceded the naval aviation flights.
