Russian Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Federal Air Transport Agency instead of Interstate Aviation Committee will be responsible for certification of aircraft

Russia’s Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev instructed the government to consider a draft decree, which assumes transferring functions related to certification of aircraft design, engines, propellers and airports from Interstate Aviation Committee (IAC) to Russian Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Federal Air Transport Agency, press-service of Russian government reports. 

“Another document is related to regulations in the area of civil aviation. The draft decree assumes transferring some functions and powers, which in fact were voluntarily earlier delegated to IAC almost 25 years ago, to some federal authorities,” Dmitry Medvedev said at a meeting of Russian government.

“The history shows that these functions should be delegated to our authorities. In order to improve the system of government control in the segment of civil aviation, Medvedev suggested transferring functions related to certification of aircraft design, engines, propellers and airports to Russian Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Federal Air Transport Agency. The abovementioned functions will be specified in the statutes of these ministries and the agency. In case something else is required, we are ready to look into the matter, if we consider it viable,” he noted.
