Helicopter crews from the Russian military base in Tajikistan practiced combat training tasks on coverage of columns on mountain routes on a 250-kilometre march from the Khatlon Region to the suburbs of Dushanbe.

Crews of Mi-8 and Mi-24 helicopters working in pairs carried out air reconnaissance of the assigned area, performed anti-ambush activities in the dangerous areas, established connection with command centres and forward air controllers.

The 201st military base is the largest formation of the Russian Armed Forces located beyond the state borders. In September, the military personnel of the base has been reinforced with a helicopter group, which has been located at the Ayni Air Force Base, 30 km from Dushanbe.
