Southern MD army aviation airbase to receive about 20 “Alligators”

In the beginning of the next year, about 20 multirole all-weather combat helicopters Ka-52 Alligator will be received by the army aviation airbase of the Southern MD located in the Kuban Region.

The Ka-52 Alligator is a modified version of the Ka-50 Black Shark. It was designed to detect, identify and eliminate different moving and stationary targets, armoured hardware, helicopters and low-flying low-speed aircraft.

The helicopter is equipped with multifunctional radar complex, which allows to perform navigation, flying and combat engagement under any weather conditions day and night.

Before practical flights on newest Ka-52 combat helicopters, pilots will pass transition training in the Centre of combat and transition training for the army aviation personnel in the Tver Region.
