Upgrade of a test bench for Tu-160’s engines is being completed in Samara

Overhaul and upgrade of a test bench owned by Kuznetsov Company (Samara) is being carried out by Ural Department of Spetsstroy of Russia. At present the interior is being decorated and pre-commissioning activities are in progress. 

“The test bench is the building, which has varying number of floors, and it is fitted with a vertical intake shaft and vertical exhaust silencer. It is designed for testing jet aircraft engines for different types of aircraft, including famous Tu-160 strategic bombers,” said in the statement published by Spetsstroy. 

The statement also says that “since April 2015 the company’s specialists constructed internal metal structures and flame-proofing components, installed new ventilation shafts and external ladders, completed facing of the building’s front face with a total area of around 2500 square meters using sandwich panels; installed new fire extinguishing system, installed a new fire piping and replaced all the electric equipment. In the course of the upgrade all the utility systems were replaced, and over 4000 pieces of equipment were installed in the facility”.
