A fault inside the crashed A321 caused damage to its right side

A fault inside the Russian A321 airliner, which crashed in Sinai Peninsula (Egypt), caused damage to its fuselage’s right side prior to collision with ground, TASS reports with reference to Al-Masry al-Youm website and sources close to international commission responsible for interpretation of information retrieved from the flight data recorders of the jet.

According to the sources, “A321 crashed due to some fault inside the aircraft, which caused the damage to its right side starting from the jet’s tail”. However, they didn’t explain “what exactly caused this damage: intentional actions inside the jet or a technical fault”.

Moreover, analysis of the data recovered from the flight data recorders shows that “talks between the captain and air traffic control officer of the Sharm el-Sheikh airport (wherefrom the A321 departed) contained no evidence of detecting any faults”.

On October 31st 2015 Airbus A321 airliner operated by Kogalymavia (works under Metrojet brand), which was performing flight 9268 from Sharm el-Sheikh to St. Petersburg, crashed about 30 minutes after takeoff in the northern part of Sinai Peninsula near Al-Arish city. 217 passengers and 7 members of the crew were onboard, all of them died. Most of the passengers were citizens of Russian Federation. Four citizens of Ukraine and one citizen of Belarus were also onboard.
