Air France's Boeing 777 airliner heading from Paris to Beijing made an emergency landing at St. Petersburg's Pulkovo Airport on Monday due to apparent engine failure, a source in the local emergency services said.

The airliner was carrying 269 passengers, according to the source.

"On 20:00 Moscow time [5 p.m. GMT], the Boeing 777 landed at Pulkovo," the source told RIA Novosti, adding that "the preliminary cause is the failure of one of its engines."
