Russia and Vietnam are making good progress in talks related to deliveries of Sukhoi SuperJet 100 to the Asian country, First Deputy Minister of Economic Development Alexey Likhachev said. During his speech delivered at the opening of a business forum between Vietnam and countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) he expressed hope that problems related to deliveries of aircraft to Vietnam will be solved soon, RIA Novosti reports.
Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Viktor Evtukhov announced that Russia is going to deliver Sukhoi SuprerJet 100 to Vietnam back in September 2014 following the results of a meeting of Russia-Vietnam intergovernmental commission. In April 2015 UAC President Yuri Slusar confirmed that the company would promote Sukhoi SuperJet in Vietnam. However, the parties have not agreed on the deliveries yet.
“As far as I know, we are making a good progress in talks related to deliveries of Russian aircraft, first of all, this refers to deliveries of Sukhoi SuperJet to Vietnam,” Likhachev said. In addition, he noted that the project of Uralvagonzavod for construction of its own plant in the southern part of Vietnam also has a high degree of readiness. “We hope to reach positive decisions on these matters soon,” he added.
Memorandum of cooperation between Russian-Vietnamese bank and the enterprise was signed in November 2013 in the presence of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin and President of Vietnam Trương Tấn Sang. In October 2014 the head of Uralvagonzavod Oleg Sienko said that the company is awaiting information related to planned traffic in order to define capacities required to start the project for construction of the plant in Vietnam.
