Aeroflot Cancels Flights To And From Cairo Effective 14 November

Russian Aviaton » Friday November 13, 2015 20:59 MSK

Aeroflot will stop operating flights on the Moscow-Cairo route and cancel flight SU 401 as of midnight tonight, due to the commercial non-viability of continuing to operate the flights.

In compliance with a ruling from the Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsia), Aeroflot has since 6 November carried passengers on the Moscow-Cairo route one way only, from Cairo to Moscow. Aircraft flew to the Egyptian capital with no passengers on board. Sales of tickets to and from Egypt were halted, and passenger numbers dropped sharply.

Given the commercial non-viability of continuing flights to Egypt, Aeroflot has decided to stop operating the route as of midnight tonight. Passengers holding Aeroflot tickets from Cairo to Moscow will be rebooked on flights operated by the airline’s partners in the Skyteam alliance and flown to Moscow on indirect routes.

All passengers for cancelled flights can return their ticket for a full refund with no penalties.

More information on the refund rules and how to rebook tickets is available from Aeroflot’s 24-hour call centre on 8-800-444-5555.
