Egypt Denies Reports Claiming A321 Debris Transported to Cairo

Russian Aviaton » Thursday November 12, 2015 13:12 MSK

The transportation of the Russian A321 plane debris from the Sinai crash site to Cairo has not begun yet, an Egyptian Ministry of Civil Aviation spokesperson said Thursday, denying earlier media reports.

On October 31, an Airbus A321 operated by the Russian airline Kogalymavia crashed in Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula. All 224 people on board were killed. The crash is the largest civil aviation disaster in Russian history.

"Only the [investigation] commission can decide on when it will be possible to transport the debris and where. And only then they could be transported. Most likely, to Cairo," the spokesperson told RIA Novosti.

A Russian source familiar with the investigation confirmed this information, saying that transportation would begin after the end of site-specific probe.
