"This is for a long time. I cannot say how long, but I think a few months, at least," Ivanov told reporters.

He added that the investigation of the plane crash was unlikely to be completed by the end of 2015.

"I strongly doubt, having taken part in the investigations of several air disasters, that it will be done this year," he said, recalling that it took four years to investigate the Lockerbie disaster.
