Three latest Su-34 multi-role bombers will be delivered to one of air bases located in the southern part of Russia in 2015, Interfax-AVN reports with reference to a source close to the region’s officials.
“The bombers will be delivered to the air base located in the Southern Military District from Novosibirsk Aviation Plant named after V.P. Chkalov,” the source said. In particular, Su-34 jets are operated by Russian military aviation units in Syria; the jets are attacking infrastructure and troops of the Islamic State terrorist group.
According to Russian Ministry of Defense, these jets have a long combat radius and fitted with the latest weapons. “Another batch of Su-34 bombers will be delivered to the Southern Military District in the network of the State Defense Order for 2015,” the source explained. According to him, “at present Russian Aerospace Defense Forces operate around 70 Su-34 jets”.
