Most probably, after purchasing French Mistral helicopter carriers Egypt asked Russian Federation for equipment and helicopters; the value of this contract may reach $1 billion, Interfax-AVN reports with reference to Chief of the Presidential Administration of Russia, Sergey Ivanov.
“Egypt purchases Mistral helicopter carriers and after closing the deal, I believe, but I am not sure, Egypt may sign a contract with Russia for delivery of equipment for Mistrals as well as helicopters,” Ivanov told journalists.
According to him, Russia will “deliver additional equipment for Mistrals, without which Mistral is a “tin can”, and of course, all the helicopters. The overall cost of this project may exceed $1 billion”.
According to Ivanov, by doing this Egypt will make significant contribution to fighting international terrorism.
