United Engine Corporation tested an engine for Soyuz-2-1v light launch vehicle

United Engine Corporation (UEC, part of Rostec State Corporation) completed acceptance tests of another engine for Soyuz-2-1v launch vehicle (LV). The testing was successful, UEC’s press-service reports.

“The test lasted for 40 seconds (as required): functionality of upgraded combustion chamber and new igniter chamber was checked during the test. Traditionally the engine was tested at test facilities of Samara-based Kuznetsov Company (part of UEC); NK-33 engine has once again proved its reliability,” UEC noted.

Preparation of the fifth NK-33 engine for delivery to Space Rocket Center Progress will be completed in two weeks; the engine will be installed on the first stage of Soyuz-2-1v LV. We remind you that the first flight tests of the rocket powered by NK-33 engine were held in December 2013 at Plesetsk cosmodrome. The second launch of this LV will be performed in 2015.
