Armavir air base to take delivery of more than 20 Yak-130 operational trainers this year. So far the specialists of the air base have completed acceptance of five jets of the type, which will perform ferry flight to the base this week, TASS reports with reference to the representative of the press-service of Russian Ministry of Defense on Air Forces, Colonel Igor Klimov.
“Specialists of the air base inspected the aircraft and checked the quality of assembly, functionality of the aircraft equipment, components, mechanisms and engines. The pilots performed at least 10 test flights in order to evaluate the functionality of all the aircraft systems during flight,” Klimov said.
Yak-130 is the two-seat next-generation operational trainer. The jet performed its maiden flight in 1996 and was selected as the primary trainer of the Russian air forces in 2002. Yak-130 operational trainers have been used for training of cadets at Borisoglebsk air base since 2013. At present the fleet of Borisglebsk air base comprises 48 Yak-130 jets.
