Diamond Aircraft (Austria) is ready to launch production of parts and components in Sverdlovsk Region. Its joint venture with Ural Works of Civil Aviation (UWCA) located in Sverdlovsk Region has already secured orders worth 3 billion rubles, ITAR-TASS reports.

"Sanctions have not affected our plans for development of cooperation yet, - governor of Sverdlovsk Region said. – At present a few components are manufactured by the Ural-based enterprise, but the Austrian airframer is going to expand the production in the region. We must continue upgrade of production facilities and development of our engineering school", - Evgeny Kuivashev, the governor of Sverdlovsk Region, said (he headed the region’s delegation in Austria).

Kuivashev added that further expansion of Ural-based production capacities depends on market capacity and development of the MRO network.

UWCA’s delegation visited Austria on September 22nd. The presentation dedicated to the region’s investment potential has already been held at Austrian Federal Economic Chamber. The governor met with the leaders of Austrian Airlines and discussed the possibility of resuming flights from Vienna to Yekaterinburg after a four-year break (the flight was suspended due to economic reasons).

Following the results of 2013 the goods exchange between Sverdlovsk Region and Austria almost doubled to $120 million. Today the country is ranked 19th in the list of the region’s trade partners.

In 2013 Sverdlovsk Region delivered metals and metal products to Austria; Austria delivered engineering products to Russia.
