Russia will have 11 Earth remote sensing satellites by 2015

In 2015 Russia will have a constellation of 11 Earth remote sensing satellites. It was stated by the Deputy General Designer of Russian Space Systems, Viktor Selin, at the opening of the IV International School on Satellite Navigation.

"Today the constellation comprises six Earth remote sensing satellites. These are geostationary satellites, low-orbit satellites like Meteor, as well as high resolution satellites like Resurs-P. By the year end two more satellites will join the constellation; next year 11 satellites will be operated. The new spacecraft are being assembled, that is why we expect significant increase of the number of Earth remote sensing satellites in the near-term", - he said.
