In October Russia and China will sign a contract to complete the final design of a long-haul wide-body aircraft. It was stated by the Deputy Chairman of the Government of Russia, Dmitry Rogozin, at a meeting chaired by the prime-minister of Russia, Dmitry Medvedev.
«We have serious plans for phasing out imports and developing the long-haul aircraft. In this regard, United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) should sign a contract with our Chinese colleagues to complete the final design of the long-haul wide-body aircraft in October. Chinese market has a great potential and this makes this project viable. And you are right – 80% of long-haul aircraft operated by Russian carriers are manufactured in foreign countries. That is why we have to start the project as soon as possible», - Rogozin noted.
