Head of the Federal Space Agency (Roscosmos), Oleg Ostapenko, visited Beijing and discussed development of cooperation in the area of space exploration with the Chinese colleagues. In particular, the possibility of installing GLONASS stations in the territory of PRC and Beidou stations in Russia was discussed.
According to the website of the Federal Space Agency, the meeting of the Space Cooperation Subcommittee acting as part of the China-Russia Premiers Regular Meeting Committee was held on September 4th 2014 in Beijing. The meeting was chaired by the Chairman of Russian part of the Subcommittee, Oleg Ostapenko, and Administrator of China National Space Administration (CNSA), XU Dazhe.
The status and future of bilateral cooperation in the area of space as well as the status of implementation of a program for cooperation between Russia and China in this area were discussed. The subcommittee noted that development of relations in this area plays an important part in deepening bilateral technological cooperation and meets the goals of innovative socially-oriented economic development of the countries.
Moreover, head of Roscosmos met with Director General of Chinese Satellite Navigation Office (CSNO), Ran Chengchi, on September 4th. The parties discussed matters related to cooperation between Russia and China in the area of satellite navigation, in particular, they discussed the possibility of installing GLONASS measurement stations in China and Beidou stations – in Russia.
The parties decided to establish Satellite Navigation Subcommittee in the network of China-Russia Premiers Regular Meeting Committee. The corresponding protocol was signed.
