Commander of the air and missile defense forces of the Russian aerospace defense forces, Andrei Demin, said that the first S-500 system will protect Moscow and the central part of Russia, Gazeta.ru reports.

«I am confident that upon completion of development and testing of S-500 air defense system it will be delivered to our units protecting Moscow and the central part of Russia», — Demin said.

It was reported earlier that deliveries of the latest S-500 air defense systems will be started in 2016. S-500 system will be able to detect and attack up to 10 ballistic targets having a speed of up to 7 km/s simultaneously as well as warheads of hypersonic cruise missiles.
