In June 2014 the Aviation Register of Interstate Aviation Committee (AR IAC) confirmed the possibility of operating Sukhoi Superjet 100 aircraft on narrow runways (minimum width – 30 meters), press-service of Sukhoi Civil Aircraft Company (SCAC) reports.

In the network of the certification program the operating conditions of Sukhoi Superjet 100 liner have been expanded. The jet is able to take off and land on the runway which is 30 (or more) meters wide. The implementation of the certification program did not require changing the design of the aircraft and its systems, said in the company’s statement.

This certification program lasted from February to March 2014 and included two stages: simulation and flight testing.

Two aircraft took part in the flight test program. The test flights were performed at Ramenskoe airfield (Moscow Region) and at “Karlovy Vary” international airport (Czech Republic) having a 30-meter-wide runway.

The tests, including the ones with system fault simulation and rejected takeoffs, demonstrated that the SSJ100 aircraft is able to take off and land successfully on the narrow runway, whether it is dry or wet.

The Supplemental Type Certificate will allow SSJ 100 operators to increase the number of possible destinations in the network of the existing ground infrastructure.
