The testing of advanced PD-14 engine intended for next-generation MS-21 passenger aircraft developed in Russia is being carried out with two different combustion chambers: the one manufactured in Russia and the one manufactured in Ukraine, Voenno-promishlenniy Courier reports.
It was stated by the CEO of United Engine Corporation (UEC), Vladislav Masalov, at the International Forum of Engine Building 2014 (MFD-2014).
«PD-14 engine is being tested with two different combustion chambers. We will choose one of them following the results of the tests», - Masalov said.
He added that Irkut Corporation, which is developing MS-21 aircraft, continues its cooperation with Pratt&Whitney. We remind you that PW1400G engine was selected as a foreign-produced engine for the new Russian liner.
Irkut earlier said that offering two or three engine options for an aircraft is the common practice for the airframers.
