In future Yak-130 operational trainer may be used as a light fighter, RIA Novosti reports with reference to CEO of V.Tikhomirov Scientific Research Institute of Instrument Design (NIIP), Yuri Beliy.

According to him, two Russian-produced aircraft attracted the participant’s interest at Singapore Airshow: Su-35 (fitted with radar developed by NIIP) and Yak-130.

"We hope that the second jet (Yak-130) will soon be fitted with a radar too; we have already submitted our proposal", — Yuri Beliy said.

He said that Yak-130 operational trainer fitted with the radar will gain the status light attack aircraft. This move will drive up the demand for the aircraft at the global market.
