The production of An-124 heavy transport aircraft may be resumed provided that a manufacturer has enough orders to make the project profitable, Gazeta.ru reports with reference to the statement made by the Director of the Ministry’s Department of Aviation Industry, Andrey Boginsky.
«Everything depends on the customers and the number of aircraft to be manufactured. If we find an order allowing us to pay off the costs related to resuming the jet’s production, we will do it», — Boginsky said.
According to him, if “orders placed by Russian and potential foreign operators will prove to be insufficient, we will have to consider the possibility of upgrading the existing fleet”.
