Aviastar-SP completed the production of first MS-21 composite tail fin box. The fin box was delivered to TsAGI for static testing, Aviastar’s press-service reports.
«This year a set of structurally similar vertical and horizontal stabilizers was handed over to TsAGI for testing. Aviastar manufactured fuselage panels F1 and F2 for the first MS-21 flying prototype and delivered them to Irkutsk Aviation Plant,» Aviastar-SP Deputy CEO – head of MS-21 program, Vasily Dontsov, said. – Moreover, assembly of fuel tanks is underway; assembly of doors will be started soon. The enterprise is going to manufacture fuselage panels F3 for the first flying MS-21 prototype in 2014».
MS-21 family of short- and medium-haul airliners is being developed by Irkut Corporation. In the network of cooperation, the Ulyanovsk-based aviation plant is responsible for production of the following components:
- fuselage panels for sections F1, F2, F3, F4, F5;
- fin compartment and APU compartment;
- all the doors (11 doors per aircraft);
- vertical and horizontal stabilizers (with rudders and elevators).
The enterprise also manufactures titan and aluminum parts for the jet’s wings delivered to AeroComposit.
