In 2014 Irkutsk Aviation Plant considered 200 rational proposals and 2,500 kaizen-suggestions (in the area of lean production technologies); 70% of them have been successfully implemented. The economic effect of these proposals amounted to 14 million rubles, TASS reports with reference to the enterprise’s press-service.
In addition, the enterprise implemented a workplace architecture concept at the MS-21 assembly line this year. “During design of the assembly stations the arm’s length principle was implemented at every workplace. It means that absolutely everything a worker needs to assembly an aircraft component is located at an optimal distance from him and in a certain place,” the press-service explained.
The first stations of the MS-21 assembly line have already been installed and the new approach has already been tested. New stations will assure continuous production of MS-21 aircraft.
Irkutsk Aviation Plant (the branch of Irkut Corporation) has been implementing lean production technologies since 2008. The concept is based on commitment to eliminate all kinds of losses.
MS-21 is the medium-haul passenger aircraft developed by Irkut Corporation in cooperation with Yakovlev design bureau. The jet is designed for passenger transportation on routes, where Airbus A320 and Boeing 737 airliners are operated. It is planned that the first jet of the type will be put into operation in 2016.
