Radio-Electronic Technologies Concern (KRET, part of Rostec State Corporation) held an extended meeting dedicated to ensuring the operational safety and airworthiness of the Yak-130 state-of-the-art operational trainer, press-service of KRET reports.
“Decision to continue development of the upgraded avionics for the “smart” aircraft used for pilot training was made at the meeting. The meeting was attended by representatives of the Russian Ministry of Defense, Irkut Corporation, KRET’s top management and some of its enterprises, which supply unique equipment for Yak-130 jets. The meeting was Chaired by the Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, Yuri Slusar”, the company noted.
Yak-130 operational trainer was developed for pilot training. Its highly reliable KRET integrated control system (ICS) featuring a reprogramming capability allows the pilot to prepare for operating not only Su-30 and MiG-29 fighters, but also F-16, F-15, Rafale and Typhoon, F-22 and F- 35 jets.
“KRET enterprises are constantly working on improving the quality of their products and take part in meetings dedicated to increasing the reliability and maintainability of Yak-130,” KRET CEO, Nikolai Kolesov, said. “In October 2014, an action plan aimed at increasing the dispatch reliability of the aircraft was finalized and submitted to Irkut Corporation, responsible for final assembly of the aircraft”.
In November 2014, the Russian Air Forces took delivery of three Yak-130 aircraft fitted with avionics upgraded by KRET. The aircraft were fitted with advanced avionics suite and state-of-the-art navigation, flight control and combat equipment. In particular, KRET developed the KSU-130 integrated flight control system with quadruple redundancy for Yak-130 aircraft. The integrated digital control system, in cooperation with the crew and avionics provides manual and automatic flight control.
Moreover, the “smart” aircraft was also fitted with other KRET high-tech equipment, including the BINS-SP-1 laser strap down inertial navigation system. It is intended for spatial orientation, positioning of an aircraft, processing and displaying of navigation and flight information.
“The Yak-130’s aircraft performance achieved in part thanks to KRET’s state-of-the-art avionics solutions, make this aircraft attractive not only for Russian but also for foreign customers. Leaders of countries located in the Middle East and Central Asia are showing interest in this “smart” operational trainer”, KRET added.
