Russian air forces will take delivery of more than 150 aircraft and helicopters in 2015; Arctic Region will become the top-priority area of activity, press-service of Russian Ministry of Defense reports.
“In 2015 the air forces will focus on increasing their presence in the Arctic Region, putting new weapons and vehicles into service, improving the combat training of military units, reconstruction of firing ranges and training aids, improving flight safety,” said in the ministry’s statement.
In the near term in accordance with the State Defense Order for 2015 the air forces will take delivery of more than 150 state-of-the-art aircraft and helicopters, including Su-30SM, Su-30M2, MiG-29SMT, Su-34, Su-35S, Yak-130, An-148, Il-76-MD90, Ka-52, Mi-28N, Mi-8AMTSh (MTV-5-1), Mi-8MTPR, Mi-35M, Mi-26, Ka-226 and Ansat-U.
The air forces will also take delivery of the latest Nebo-M, Gamma, Sopka radar systems; Podlet low-altitude radar stations; S-400 and Pantsir-S air defense systems. In addition, over 30 new trainers for specialists of air defense forces and flight simulators for training centers located in Torzhok, Ryazan, Syzran, etc. will be delivered.
In 2015 military units of the air forces will take part in “Union Shield 2015” and «Boevoye Sodruzhestvo-2015» maneuvers, bilateral maneuvers with the command of air forces and air defense forces, etc. Experience gained during international stage of Aviadarts in 2014 allows holding similar competition at a higher level in 2015, the Ministry of Defense added.
Next year aerobatic teams of the State Flight Test Center “Russian Knights”, “Strizhi”, “Falcons of Russia” and “Berkuti” (helicopter aerobatic team) will demonstrate their skills in different cities of Russia and other countries of the world.
