The first composite wing for MS-21 aircraft will be manufactured in Ulyanovsk Region in 2015. It was stated by the governor of Ulyanovsk Region, Sergey Morozov, at the meeting of Supervisory Board of Scientific, Educational and Production Cluster Uyanovsk-Avia, Voenno-promishlenniy Courier reports.

«The first wing made of carbon fiber composite will be manufactured by AeroComposit-Ulyanovsk,» the governor said. It will help raise at least 5 billion rubles of investments for development of the enterprise, he said.

MS-21 is the short- and medium-range single-aisle aircraft to be introduced at Russian and global market. The liner offers unique characteristics and may be operated from most runways used in Russia, under any climatic, lighting and weather conditions and from high-altitude airports.

It is expected that mass production of MS-21 aircraft will be started in 2017. The jet’s maiden flight is scheduled for 2016.
