In October 2014 Russia completed deliveries of Mi-17V-5 military-transport helicopters to Afghan army. Since the signing of contract between Rosoboronexport and US Ministry of Defense 63 helicopters manufactured by Kazan Helicopters (part of Russian Helicopters Holding Company) were delivered to Afghanistan, the holding company’s press-service reports.
“Rosoboronexport has a reputation of a reliable supplier of military helicopters, and implementation of the contract for delivery of Mi-17V-5 helicopters to Afghanistan was highly appreciated by the US partners. Mi-8/17 helicopters have proven their worth under challenging climatic conditions of Afghanistan mountainous areas. The deliveries of helicopters help solve problems related to strengthening the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF), and are part of Russia-US cooperation in fighting international terrorism”, the company explained.
The Federal Service for Military Technical Cooperation (also known as FSVTS), confirms that it is ready to discuss potential further deliveries of Mi helicopters and provision of MRO services for Russian-produced helicopters already in operation.
