Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade suggested establishing a specialized material research center on the basis of All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Aviation Materials. It will be responsible for consolidation of all the aircraft industry’s innovative potential. It was stated by Russian Minister of Industry and Trade, Denis Manturov, during his visit to Irkutsk, press-service of the ministry reports.
“The center will be established in 2016. The National Research Center “Institute named after N.E. Zhukovsky” may be considered as a model for this project; the Institute is successfully implementing projects for development of new composites and aircraft systems, which increase the competitive ability of Russian aircraft,” said in the ministry’s statement.
«Increase of a share of Russian-produced components used by the national aircraft industry is demonstrated in the network of MS-21 project. At present 50% of the jet’s components are manufactured in Russia and this indicator will reach 60% by the start of the aircraft’s mass production, - Denis Manturov said. – I ask you to make the best use of our scientific centers’ capabilities. Thanks to such cooperation we will be able to reduce time needed for production of state-of-the-art aircraft».
