United Engine Corporation to manufacture 150 helicopter engines in 2015

United Engine Corporation (UEC) plans to manufacture 150 helicopter engines made of Russian-produced components next year, i-Mash reports with reference to CEO of the corporation, Vladislav Masalov.

“We are going to manufacture 150 helicopter engines in 2015”, - he said and added that one third of these engines should be delivered by Chernyshev Moscow Machine-Building Enterprise and the rest ones will be manufactured by other UEC companies.

According to Masalov, all the design works will be completed in 2014 and the output will be increased step-by-step.

“The first stage has been completed - Chernyshev Moscow Machine-Building Enterprise and Klimov Company have manufactured repair kits. The second stage is focused on starting the engines’ mass production and increasing the output,” CEO of UEC explained.

Qualification testing of the engines will be carried out soon, he added. “In fact the engine has already confirmed its performance and reliability,” Masalov said.

According to CEO of UEC the company has worked out its own production program and now it must be coordinated with the program of Russian Helicopters Holding Company. “The annual output of 500 – 600 engines is being considered. I think that the final output will be defined by 2016,” he said.
