Passenger traffic of Domodedovo airport for 10 months of 2014 reached 28,69 million passengers (+7.9% year-on-year), the airport’s press-service reports.
“In October Moscow Domodedovo Airport serviced 2.71 million passengers (+5.4% year-on-year). The number of flights increased by 3.6% compared to October 2013 to 23,522 takeoff and landing operations. During the period from January to October 2014, 236,374 flights were serviced at the airport (+6.5%). The domestic passenger traffic keeps on increasing. The number of passengers traveling across the country for the period from January to October 2014 increased by 21.9% year-on-year. The greatest increase was registered on the following destinations: Simferopol, Sochi, Omsk, Kaliningrad, Mineralnye Vody. The passenger traffic on these routes reached 2.53 million people (2.5 times more compared to 10 months of 2013),” the airport noted.
It must be noted that the increase of the number of flights to Simferopol was one of the major reasons for shifting the positive dynamics in the passenger traffic towards domestic air lines. In addition, the frequency of flights from the Moscow to Ukraine, which belong to the international segment, decreased.
“In general, Domodedovo’s passenger traffic on internationalair lines for the period from January to October 2014 was 15.7 million passengers. The greatest increase in passenger traffic was registered on the following destinations: Hurghada, Sharm el Sheikh, Chisinau, Larnaca, Verona. In January-October 2014, the passenger traffic on these routes was 2.48 million people (+73.1% year-on-year).
