The flight testing of Il-76MD-90A “Ulyanovsk” transport aircraft was completed, press-service of Aviastar-SP reports.

Representatives of Chkalov State Flight Test Center took part in the last test flight of the jet. The duration of this flight was 3 hours 44 minutes. The landing was carried out at nighttime; the aircraft landed on the runway of the flight test department of Ulyanovsk-Vostochny airport.

«The specialists of Chkalov State Flight Test Center said that all the aircraft systems including navigation system and automatic flight control system “worked well”. Now the aircraft is ready to be put into service,» Chief Designer of Ilyushin Company, Andrey Yurasov, said.

The aircraft will be handed over to the customer – Taganrog-based Beriev Aircraft Company in order to create special-purpose aircraft on the basis of the state-of-the-art platform, Aviastar said.  

Il-76MD-90A was derived from the proven Il-76MD aircraft. The aircraft was developed by Ilyushin Company. The latest navigation equipment, automatic control system, communications system and glass cockpit meet all the existing requirements for aircraft avionics and help improve the flight safety and precision of aircraft navigation. The replacement of D-30KP2 engines with more advanced PS-90A-76 ones, installation of upgraded wing and reinforced landing gear significantly expand the jet’s operational capabilities.
