Asia-Pacific Region is one of the most important markets in terms of deliveries of Russian-produced military aircraft, ITAR-TASS reports with reference to the president of United Aircraft Corporation (UAC), Mikhail Pogosyan.
“Speaking of Asia-Pacific market, over 500 aircraft developed in Russia have been delivered and manufactured under license in the countries of this region over the last 15 years,” he said. “We have managed to achieve these results by means of improving our products. Su-35 is the latest version of 4++-generation fighter. We believe that the jet will be in demand at Chinese market as well as markets of other Asia-Pacific countries,” Mikhail Pogosyan noted.
He added that Russian-produced civil aircraft have “good prospects” at Chinese market. “As for Asia-Pacific market, over 30% of all the civil aircraft delivered to customers in the next 20 years will be delivered to this region,” he said, adding that “China will be the leader in terms of these deliveries”. “I see potential for promoting Sukhoi SuperJet 100 (SSJ 100) at the market, and I think that the joint project for development of a wide-body aircraft implemented by UAC and COMAC (Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China Ltd) is rather promising. I see possibilities not only for deliveries of state-of-the-art aircraft, but also for cooperation between Russian and Chinese parties,” Pogosyan noted.
Speaking of the project for joint development of the wide-body airliner Pogosyan said that “the jet’s configuration has already been defined”. “At first stage we together with our Chinese colleagues defined the liner’s range, passenger capacity, major requirements for its design and systems. This is the basis for the next stage of the project,” he said.
“In accordance with the agreements reached the program will be financed by both parties on a parity basis. We have signed an agreement for implementation of the next stage of this project – elaboration of the aircraft’s detailed design. The scale of this program defines federal budget as the primary source of financing. The project requires significant investments that cannot be provided by the companies,” Pogosyan added. He did not specify exact figures saying that a working group must define the required amount of investments at the next stage of the project.
Demonstration of Russian super-maneuverable Su-35S fighter at the Airshow China 2014 international exhibition confirms that Russian airframers are willing to strengthen their positions at the Asia-Pacific market, president of UAC Mikhail Pogosyan said. “We believe that Asia-Pacific market and Chinese markets are very important for us in terms of promoting our products. That is why we demonstrated the latest aircraft in Zhuhai,” he stated. “Demonstration of Su-35 helped us showcase the capabilities of this aircraft”, - Pogosyan added.
“Of course we cannot demonstrate everything in the network of demonstration flights showed at the exhibition. We can showcase the aircraft’s super-maneuverability capabilities, but at the same time, we will tell visitors about capabilities of its radar, EW suite and state-of-the-art weapons, which make Su-35 the best fourth-generation aircraft”. “All of our customers having experience of successful operation of our aircraft show interest in this jet”, - Pogosyan added.
